Sometimes, the most exciting things are happening in your own backyard. FormFree CEO Brent Chandler recently participated in the annual Open House event of Athens tech incubator, Four Athens.
Chandler was delighted to be available for the Four Athens event, where he showcased AccountChek, answered questions about the product, and reflect on life as the CEO of a fast-growing tech company with roots in Athens, GA.
Chandler was impressed with the overwhelming turnout. “It’s exciting to be a part of the Athens startup community, which is full of energy and innovation. Kudos to Four Athens for bringing together and promoting these companies; we are very grateful to those leaders. There is no doubt that VCs and investment companies are being attracted because of the awareness that is being raised by Four Athens.”
Four Athens’ mission is to educate and guide technology companies, a vital part of the future of economic development in Athens and beyond. The organization holds its yearly Open House to raise local awareness of the startup community in Athens.
Jim Flannery, Program Director of Four Athens, notes that “Formfree is a great example of an Athens startup — a founder with domain expertise, innovating in a sector that desperately needs to be brought into the 21st century with a strong internal team. Financial service tech has been a stronghold of Atlanta for years and it makes sense that the knowledge base and expertise would also spring out of Athens.”
What’s next for Four Athens?
Four Athens is focused on expansion in 2014. On February 1st, the organization opened a location focused on expanding (5-10 person) startups, and is opening a coworking facility for design professionals on March 1. Four Athens also has plans for additional community collaboration and events throughout the year.
In a city perhaps best known best as home of R.E.M., the B-52’s, and the University of Georgia, FormFree is proud to be a part of Athens’ growing recognition as a tech center.
